Supplier and Subcontractor Policy
How we choose and work with those who supply us · Hull Storage & Interiors Ltd
Hull Storage & Interiors Ltd is a distributor. We do not manufacture, and we use subcontractors to install what we sell. Our customers rely on us to choose those suppliers and subcontractors well. This policy sets out how we choose them, and the standards we expect them to meet.

1. How we choose suppliers
We buy from reputable, established UK-based manufacturers, distributors and importers. When we choose a supplier we look at:
- the quality and safety of their products, and the information they provide with them
- whether they deliver reliably
- their standing: how long they have traded, their reputation and their insurance
- how they approach the standards in section 3
- price, weighed alongside all of the above
2. How we choose subcontractors
Installation is carried out by subcontractors. Before a subcontractor works for us, we ask about:
- their public and employers’ liability insurance
- their experience and training for the work
- how they will do the job safely, with a risk assessment and method statement where the job needs one
- the right to work in the UK of everyone they bring to site
3. The standards we expect
| Area | What we expect of suppliers and subcontractors |
|---|---|
| The law | Comply with the law that applies to their business and their goods. |
| Products | Supply goods that are safe and as described, with the instructions, load data and declarations the law requires. |
| People | No forced or child labour. Fair pay, lawful hours and safe conditions. |
| Health and safety | Work safely, follow site rules and report accidents on our jobs. |
| Honesty | No bribery, and no gifts or hospitality meant to influence a decision. |
| Environment | Comply with environmental law and dispose of waste legally. |
| Confidentiality | Keep our customers’ details and site information confidential. |
| Their own suppliers | Ask the same of those who supply them. |
4. What we rely on our suppliers for
Because we do not manufacture, the specifications, load capacities, test data and declarations of conformity for the goods we sell come from the manufacturer or importer. We pass this information to our customers as we receive it. We expect suppliers to tell us promptly about any change, safety concern or recall.
5. If a supplier falls short
We look again at a supplier or subcontractor whenever a concern is raised. If they fall short we ask them to put it right. If they will not, we may stop using them. Anyone can raise a concern with a director on 01482 218060 or at sales@hsil.co.uk.
